It doesn't matter whether it's remote or local, the speed is the
same, the quality is the same (i.e., POOR!). The main problem seems to
stem from the gs driver (cdj890 v1.3). There is some information on the
aladdin documentation about it (Devices.html), but to cut it short,
printing in 600 dpi is slow, the colours won't be brilliant, and if you
just want a quick print, you are advised to use the cdj550 driver with
some options. Hardly ideal, but that seems to be how you can get speed
increases.

It looks as if it might be worth compiling gs from source with
very hight optimisation parameters (a PITA, if you ask me...).
