I would say not.
The hp850 series drivers are user-contributed and not very high
quality. Optimization of the driver code won't help, since the
problem is not the CPU cycles, it's I/O: the files produced are huge.
It just takes a long time to send them to the printer.
A better bet would be to try the uniprint driver.
This might help print quality too. However, uniprint may or may not
support features you need.
Again, this comes down to proprietary interfaces. Thanks, HP! Don't
we all wish Ghostscript were a proprietary product of Microsoft?
