Theres a utility which comes with SuSE 7.0 for guessing destroyed
partition tables. I forget what it's called tho. May not be much use
anyway as its a laptop harddrive. Where would you plug it in to work on
it?
Anyway, the HDPREP thing sounds good. Bring it round if you like. I have a
poke at it too (I have repaired several compaqs with deleted system
partitions in my time)
