Doing random searches in google for "cupsd" and "ppp" brought a debian fix 
list that mentioned turning browsing off...heading to www.cups.org and 
looking at their docs, there is an option "Browsing" ... so try:

	Browsing Off

in your cupsd.conf and see what that does :)
