Excuse my ignorance, but is LaTex not like assembler?

Complete pain in the behind until you get to grips with it (which takes a
while), and then stunningly useful once you have?

I've not been over joyed with Star Office or AbiWord, but then again, I
haven't
sat down and knocked off a document from scratch in a few weeks/months. I have
usually only editted existing Word docs - and it does seem a little slow.

Dunno, guess I should poke AbiWord somemore if everyone doesn't have any
issues
with it.

Still, at the moment, if I really want to use Word, I have a 40Mb harddrive
lying around with Win 3.1 and Word 2 on it. It *screams* along on a 486
machine.
Might not be stable, it might not be pretty, but boy, it's quick!

If AbiWord could do what Word 2 does, and not bomb, I'd be happy.

Still, I tend not to bother with Office packages. I must be the only person
who
is content with just printing ASCII (OK, I admit, I also filter it through
Ghostscript) :-)

 Baz.
