Why a primary _DOS_ partition? shouldn't just a primary partition set to type 'linux' (82, IIRCWIPC)?

Check to see if windows thinks the reiserfs partition is a windows drive (look in My Computer). This could be a problem.

There seem to be a lot of Windows questions (well, 2). I don't recall Windows be a) a Linux distro, or b) Free software of any kind

I just installed an IDE disk on my secondary controller formatted as one 
primary dos partition of reiserfs. 
Windows now will hang every second boot. Joy. 

I think it's a phase of the moon issue.
