[Sheflug] re: mail

I have three email accounts, which receive mail for a variety of different users. The way I deal with this is as follows:

Set up .fetchmailrc for a user (I currently use root, and hope the firewall keeps intruders out, but that will soon change!) to read all mail from all three accounts into root's mailbox

I then run procmail on it (the whole thing is nicely scripted) with stuff like this in /etc/procmailrc

0:
:^TOcraig.*
! craig [at] maverick.fishbot.org.uk

0:
:^TOvic.*
! vicky [at] maverick.fishbot.org.uk

(Yes, I know it's not formatted correctly, but I can't remember it off hand. I am at work y'know)

When run, procmail forwards the mail for me and our lass to maverick.fishbot.org.uk (my desktop machine), and into the correct mailboxes too!

While I'm on the subject

I noticed that for some reason, sendmail can not send mail from my gateway (192.168.0.10) to my desktop (192.168.0.42) unless I am connected to the internet. It says DNS: Host Name Lookup Failure

I think it might be a routing problem, but I am not sure. Any ideas?

Craig
