	You have to tell ispell to use latin1 encoding and to use the
German dictionary (do you have that?). You might want to give it extra
characters that might. 
ispell -d german -T latin1 -w "äöüÄÖÜß" <filename>

	For TeX, you need to change the -T option to something else. Na,
viel glúck mit dein Deutsch bei Linux ! :-)
