[Sheflug] Slightly OT: Configuring IP addresses
Hi all
This is not exactly Linux related, but has loose links.
We are currently developing a system that uses an embeded controller card
and has an ethernet port. When the product is shipped we want to be able to
give the customer means of setting / changing the IP address. At present we
only have the use of the RS232 debug port but we would like to find another
way of doing it. Would it be possible to access the card via the ethernet
port knowing only the MAC address and configuring the IP address that way.
I have suggested using DHCP as an alternative but we do not know what
facilities the customers network will have. The units could be on there own
private subnet using a single PC as a controller.
Any ideas??
Cheers
Alastair
