Yep, I've spent six weeks and more talking to Mandrakesoft, SuSE Ltd
and Red Hat Europe to see if we could get some money together for a
venue. They all said that there ain't no money available.
Last week I went to Manchester for the Kylix seminar. One of the
directors of Mandrakesoft told me that "his battery had gone flat" on
his palmtop after I sent him some e-mail. After that I didn't get
anything back from him.

Yes, we've done loads of it at Blackwell's over the past two years.
ShefLUG is/are the crowd of people who pioneered this kind of thing
in the UK.
The biggest problem is the fact that it's on a Sunday. I've had more
than a slight suggestion that some sort of religious group are not
happy about this.
Don't know what that might be about but there you are :)
So, after dragging myself around all the software companies only to
find that they tell me that they aren't supporting it then I have at
last given up.
We did at one point consider PC World at Meadowhall. But, after
careful consideration we decided that it wasn't worth the effort of
putting pen to paper only to have the letter chucked in the bin.
Thanks
