I've read in comp.os.linux.<whatever> that the new Realtek driver has 
problems with DHCP, which probably means it has problems with broadcast. 
Apparently if you copy the driver from 2.4.3 it works...I'll hunt out 
references if needed, to make sure it the right driver - this is just 
top-of-head stuff at the moment.
