This is probably of no use to anyone but there's a longish thread
going on the SuSE list just now about just this kind of thing.......

So, not much help but at least I tried :) I've spent about six weeks
trying to get someone to understand that there's a problem with
networking 2.4 kernels and all I got back so far was a pile of
comments that suggested that I knew nothing about network cards or
computers.
