[Sheflug] Mozilla 0.9

Hi,

Since I am not hungry and therefore don't need to go home that
early :-) I thought I'd give mozilla 0.9 a go. While I was at it, I also
installed the latest galeon I could find.

Well, a couple of comments: mozilla is _much_ faster than
previous incantations. Still, the memory usage is huge. However, it must
be said that loading time is far shorter than what it was, and I'd say
it compares to netscape's. That is good news.

The version of galeon was quite small and sleek. It's even got
an installation wizard and all that. Someone mentioned the cool features
of this thing, and they do have them indeed! However, it looks as if it
eats up as much memory as mozilla does... This is rather unfortunate, I
would say...

The point is, is it only me, or if you have a graphical browser
under Linux, the memory usage increases to astronomic heights? I usually
have a very small memory cache, and rely on the University's cache.
However, if I open one page, and then another, and then another, the
memory usage just goes rocket high, and the machine suffers... And I
suffer.

Contrary to what some people said, I find Opera to be both
stable and less hungry on memory resources. It's got annoying drawbacks
(not showing the URL you're about to click, where was that javascript
configuration thing?), but I find it more useable if I want to restrict
memory usage (and running OpenDX, this is a must!!!). Maybe this is
because I haven't really compiled from source any browser (last time I
tried, I was taken to a room with no windows and padded walls, with Tom
Waits mumbling about "Master, Master..."). I have been using "dodgy"
debian packages.

Oh, well, just to stir the browser conversation for the N-th
time :-)

	Regards,
	José
