Well, in terms of scientific thrashing, I have run:

Gnome
Enlightenment
Mozilla 0.8
Emacs :)
updatedb
Apache
XMMS
Star Office (Nice drawing)
AbiWord (Nice WP)
xfig

and the system has felt nice and responsive the whole time. Not a massive
load on it, I know, but its more than would make my NT box break into a
cold sweat :)
