[Sheflug] SuSE 7.1 Apache and mod_php

Hi all

I tried to install mod_php onto my box last night and had a few problems, I
was hoping someone could shed some light.

The box is running SuSE 7.1 with the stock 2.2.18 kernel, Apache 1.3.17
(from the CD set) is installed and running OK. The only mod I made was to
enable AllowOveride AuthConfig and this worked fine.

I obtained the mysql binary and installed that with no problems and then
went onto install php4. I was having a bad night and could not find php on
the CD set so I obtained the latest (I think it is 4.0.5) and attempted the
build, no problems until I tried to restart apache when it refused to start
complaining that it could not load libphp4.so which was where it expected to
find it. If I commented out the module load lines in httpd.conf all was
well.

After a bit of searching I found the mod_php on the CD set and installed
this and Apache again overwritting what was already installed. Now it does
state that it has a problem loading the module as such, but the httpd binary
segfaults if the module lines are uncommented in httpd.conf.

Does anyone have any pointers before I try to rebuild the whole lot again
tonight (probably as static libraries and I seem to recall having problems
with shared libs with apache and php before)

Cheers

Alastair
