[Sheflug] IRIX 6.2...
Have now got the machine in front of me... was working fine earlier
running IRIX 5.3 but being the idiot that i am i thought id upgrade to
IRIX 6.2 instead.. and also wipe everything off so i could get root
access. Bleh. So much for that. I've managed to attach my yamaha cd
drive so i can read local cds now, but it keeps throwing this error up
at me saying somehting about an IO error. If I haven't got it working
by the time i get back up to sheffield, i could really do with some
help guys ...pretty pweeeease :)
PS: when i asked if i could have this machine today, i was told there
were two of them lying, and i could just take both for free if i
wanted!! So im bringing the other one home next week sometime. Before
you ask, ive promised the other machine to my housemate mary (fellow
compsci gimp), but if she ends up not wanting, could probabaly be
pursuaded to part with it since i really dont have space for four
computers in my tiny room in my new house.
PPS: before i fluffed up this installation of Irix, has a chance to
play arond with some of the demos and the indycam thang. IMHO, its a
fucking amazing machine , *especially* considering it was made back in
1993! I think a lot of it actually runs faster than my AMD 700!! Psch.
Anyhew. Im off to seee if the install has worked this time.
PPPS, to the guy who wanted to know if i have base install disks. Yes.
I do :) Only one copy though, so we'll have to careful with them. Base
install for 6.2 and upgrades to 6.5.x
Peace out. Very happy. Big grey monitor and indycam is staring and me
and i feel inexplicaply drawn towards the expanse of 8 bit colour.
Reality? I'll see you tommorow morning. *Maybe* ;)
