Yes, it's good for X config.  That's why I sent it to you.  If in 
fact you had started with the Libranet CD you would now have had 
several of the very nice utility programs that have been produced by 
their software engineer.  Things like automated kernel config and 
sound config are built into the Libranet system.  Very nice.  It's 
also a lot like Open BSD in the way that it's been put together.

I found out to my cost just how bad Debian really is at the weekend.  
Updated with apt-get and the whole process barfed badly in the 
middle. So, now I've got a complete system that it usable but cannot 
be updated with either apt-get or deselect.   And, no one on the 
Debian lists knows how to fix this problem.  So, it looks like a 
complete re-install.  And, Irda doesn't want to work.  So, it'd be 
easier to delete the whole lot and get rid if it altogether for 
software that actually works.
