[Sheflug] ReiserFS vs. Ext3fs ... :-)
At the possibility of making people go "argh", and a sudden loss of profits
at barber's and hairdresses[1] across Sheffield, does anyone have an idea
which is the, urrmmm, "best" (yes, very loose definition). I suppose a
better thing would be a comparison of the two ... currently searching
google without much luck.
So far, the only thing I've found is that converting from ext2 to ext3 is
just a case of typing a magic "tune2fs" command to create the journal, then
mounting as ext3, whereas ReiserFS requires a format, and hence backup and
restore each partition.
Toying around with plonking /a/ journalled file-system on, just Linux seems
to have them comming out its ears (XFS, JFS, ext3, Reiser) at the moment.
As (to my knowledge) XFS and JFS are still under heavy development, it's a
case of ext3 or Reiser.
Suggestions on a postcard :)
Chris...
[1] as people pull their hair out sighting the oncoming flame-war akin to
emacs vs. vi ... or am I being overly pessimitic? :-)
