Applies to everything. I seem to recall a LKML thread not long ago decrying 
the fact that it was incredibly hard to work out how big a process footprint 
was, etc. In fact, I think the only thing you can really do is remove a 
process and see how many pages that frees (which then only gives you a 
'statistic': shared libs may or may not be unloaded, so doing it at different 
times might give wildly different values :( )

XF86 is the biggest culprit of false memory syndrome. Apart from doing things 
like mapping the graphics card RAM (I think this counts in the process 
size?), you also have things like SHM, backing stores, and numerous other 
tricks which conspire to make X look massive when really it's weeny.
