I've always had good experiences with 3Com cards of most interface
types, both at work (Windows environment - some machines have 3Com
chipsets onboard, others are normal NICs) and home (Linux/FreeBSD).

Lifetime warranty if the card dies on you, as well.

I'm using 3Com 509s (obviously rather old, and not 100Mbit/s) and some
OfficeConnect Fast Ethernet 3cSOHO100-TX Hurricane cards at home, and
they seem to do the job.
You might want to look at a 900/905 series card rather that the SOHO100 -
it's driven by the same driver under Linux, although the 905 is twice
the price - there must be some reason to buy it :-)

The Intel EtherExpress 100 cards seem to be well loved too.

Just my 2p

Baz.
