[Sheflug] total irrelevence - PO Boxes?

im sorry this has absolutely nothing else to do with linux, but ive asked
everyone esle i know and no one knows the actual answer to this...
What exactly is a Po Box?

I know how to get one, and i know how much it costs, but im not sure what
one is. Basically, i want somewhere i can give out as an address without
them being able to track who i am. Is a PO Box just a remailing service in
which case its useless.... or is it actually a box somewhere that i can go
and collect mail from?
