Re: [Sheflug] Unknown device under RH7.2

if xcdroast can see the drives, they are definitely scd0 and scd1. The
ide-scsi emulation driver is being used. Check /etc/lilo.conf for a line
like:

append="hdb=ide-scsi hdc=ide-scsi"

what are the actual lines that are being used in /etc/fstab? If cdroast
can read and write disks, then it is not a problem with access to the
drives being messed up.

As root, can you mount a disk by doing:

mount -t iso9660 /dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom

?? If not, then there is something amiss, but you should at least be
able to do this.

If not, check that the files /dev/scd0 is listed something like this:

brw-r-----    1 root     disk      11,   0 Sep 24 02:54 /dev/scd0
                                   ^^   ^^

The numbers underlines with ^^ are the important ones. If these are
different, then the device files are wrong.

have a go, and let us know how it goes!
