[Sheflug] parport s

hiya folks,

I am having a spot of bother with printing within vmware.  I will email 
their newsgroups, but first i wanted to check something out. 

I need to set up a virtual parallel port and this has to be connected to 
a physical device.  I've selected parport0 and parport1 only to be told 
that the devices donot exist. How do I find out which parport is the one 
to use (I assume parport0 as there is only 1 parallel port on my m/c 
(thinkpad a22p)) and can I print directly to it (I seem to remember that 
it should be possible).

my other option is to share the printer via samba but it is harder to 
find out why that isn't working (this is a vmware/win2k problem rather 
than a linux one I think, though).
