[Sheflug] ssh X11 forwarding
I want to execute remote X11 programs with a display on the local X
server. At the moment I have xdm set up on the remote machines, but I have
to start a new X server for each machine.
I would like to use ssh for X11 forwarding, and according to the docs it
is easy - from an xterm just ssh into the remote machine and execute the
program and it will automagically appear on the local X display. Except it
doesn't work, the DISPLAY variable is blank on the remote machine. I have
tried using the +x option to ssh but it makes no difference.
The local machine is linux, one of the remote machines is also linux and
the other is netbsd. The linux boxen have a standard install of ssh 3.0x
non-commercial and the NetBSD box has the standard implementation (openssh
I think) that comes with 1.5.2
Any suggestions appreciated
