No offense taken, I had to upgrade to OpenSSL/H sooner or later before I
could properly play with port forwarding, secure rsh etc.

I tried that with no joy - it is definately linking against libcrypt as it
shows -Lcrypt in gcc's command line as it builds and ldd on the resulting
sshd binary shows it is liked against libcrypt.so.1. It still won't let me
login though.
