Why cut the samba? I need this to share files between machines (the other two
are windows machines). I could set up another machine with smoothwall on and
use that as the gateway for the whole system, would this help? I'm not too
fluent on ipchains or iptables. I attended the meeting where Alistair gave a
talk on them but that's pretty much all I know about them.

How would I do this? I'll be using TCP/IP but this is my first time (really,
apart from networking my linux box to a smoothwall box a few months ago) at
networking.

What I meant was, if one machine isn't plugged into the network will it still
function properly.
Cheers,
Darrell
