That's what you want to do. Watch out for a backlash from the
Smoothwall list. Most people get kicked out. You might also
consider Freesco and Ip Cop but I much prefer to roll my own. That
way I know what's in the box.

Set your gateway box up as the top level machine. Something like
192.168.1.1 is very popular. Then your next computer is 192.168.1.2
and so on. After that you set up routing and masquerading on the
gateway box. You should find that all of the "auto-config" firewall
software does this for you without you having to think about it.
This isn't an ideal situation but it's probably the best you can do
for a home connection without spending loadsa spons.

Yes, it'll work. But, you won't be able to view web pages or check
e-mail until you plug it into your network.
