RE: [Sheflug] open-office
hehe. Must be 'cos you're all using far too new distros :)
Installed it on my RedHat 6.0 machine (upgraded to KDE2.2.1 and XFree86 4.1, but otherwise stock install) and it works fine. Installs and runs for my user, and opened my Word files on first try. I can only imagine that it must be some library issues.

Yup, OpenOffice won't run at all for my user.
Have you tried running it as root? It appears to work fine on my
(Debian) system when I run it as root.
I think this is a known bug (at least, it's been heard of on the
IssueZilla tracker)
