[Sheflug] Sybase
I've got a biggish Sybase setup running on NT. I've set up a copy on my
Linux Server (rh7.1) as a safe development area for writing some code which
hacks about with the database. I want an exact copy of one of the databases
within my Sybase system and have used the following approach.
Find the dump file produced nightly for that database.
ftp it from NT box to linux box.
load the database from the dump file.
Basically, it works - all the tables and data are there and everything looks
OK...but...
Each time I do this, Sybase says that around 30 database objects (SPs,
triggers and views) don't exist, and forces me to 'drop and recreate'.
The small print in the Sybase manuals seems to say that I can't use dumps
from one OS to restore onto a different OS, but I think I get away with it
between linux and NT - something to do with bigendian/littlendian.
Anyone tried this? Had the same problem? Found a solution?
Thanks,
Stephen
