I was doing some digging around while I was waiting for my question to 
appear on the list. I tried to configure the sound card via YaST2 after 
having a look at /proc/interrupts /proc/ioports /proc/dma etc but the 
module failed to load, suggesting that the configuration wasn't correct.

However, I've checked to see which modules are loaded as you suggested and 
this is what /sbin/lsmod reports. My guess is that the module is being 
loaded with the wrong parameters? The question is what are the correct 
parameters and how do I discover them.
