[Sheflug] Printing under Woody...

Hi all

I've just got a new workstation here at Ork, and I threw Debian Woody onto
it. I've run into a minor problem with the printing.. it's set up using
magicfilter, with a LaserJet 4050N as the output printer (across the
network). Here's my printcap:

---------- Cut Here ----------
lp|hplj4050n|HP LaserJet 4050N:\
	:sd=/var/spool/lpd/hplj4050n:rm=210.55.238.37:rp=hplj4050n:lpr_bounce:\
	:pw#80:pl#72:px#1440:mx#0:\
	:if=/etc/magicfilter/ljet4050-filter:\
	:af=/var/log/lp-acct:lf=/var/log/lp-errs:\
	:sh:

---------- Cut Here ----------

I get two problems if I do, say, "lpr /etc/hosts" - first, I get the
dratted job header page, even though the printcap has :sh: in the entry.
I think I've got that sussed... add "-h" to the enscript commandline for
text jobs in the filter. The other problem is that it's not getting the
line-endings right; I'm seeing that staircase effect in the output when I
do "lpr /etc/hosts"; if I do "enscript /etc/hosts", though, it's just
fine. Something b0rken in lpr, or in the way it invokes enscript? FWIW,
this is the filter line that invokes enscript:

default pipe /usr/bin/enscript -h -B -p-

Can anyone help?

Cheers

R
