Funnily enough, I had exactly the same problem with Home Highway vs
Broadband. When Highway went in, I was 3km from the exchange. When I did a
line test on the new analogue that work pay for prior to ADSL going in, my
house had moved 550m further up the road. Either that or BT has shares in
some big cable producers, and they're installing big loops in the exchanges!

Either way, I still got my (R)ADSL. I thought the distance limitations for
HH were tighter than those for ADSL though... a fact which still confuses
me.
