[Sheflug] Mandrake updates
I'm trying Mand 8.2 at the moment but I'm having problems using the software
update facility. Many of the files will not update, keep getting error while
getting file x. Some files download partially before losing my 2 hr isp
connection. When I restart the process, it tries to install the partially
downloaded files, sometimes saying that the upgrade was successfull and
sometimes not.
I have read in some archives that Mandrake's update is not good and that the
only way is to wait for the next version and do a complete update. Don't know
if this is bitching amongst the different distributions or fact. I've tried
in the past using gftp to download the files and update from there but that
also sometimes causes conflicts. Would I be better leaving things alone and
wait for the version updates?
I also find it slower than a debian setup.
