In my opinion LINUX will remain a niche OS, used only by techies and
UNIX professionals. It will never attain widespread recognition and
remove Microsoft's dominance until it has been made much much much
easier to install.
Sadly, I have removed all trace of Linux and reinstalled Windows 98, a
job which took a few hours.

I have to say that I now find linux (redhat 8) easier to install than
windows, the problem is when you have a device that does not have
driver support, then it can be very frustrating. However I really think
over the next two years that linux on the desktop will become a real
proposition, all our desktop machines are now being converted to linux
(we are a publisher). However I think that it will be take considerably
longer (if at all) before it replaces microsoft on the home desktop.
Having said that I think that the days of the "Home computer" are
numbered, it becoming more of an appliance like your stereo etc.
