No, you don't.

Procmail is one way to do it, but there are other ways.

The suggestion by Chris to modify where your MUA fetches mail, or
alter where your MTA delivers mail to seems more logical than messing
about with procmail just to get mail in the right place.

It seems your mail setup is somewhat borked.

What MTA are you using?
Have you modified the MTA config at all?

Can you send mail locally to yourself (removing fetchmail from the
equation)?

Does mail get delivered _somewhere_, even if it's not quite where you
want it, or is it vanishing?
