Yes.  I update from here:

rpm http://apt.freshrpms.net redhat/8.0/en/i386 freshrpms

It comes up with this:

[root@nobby root]# apt-cache search gcc
glibc - The GNU libc libraries.
libgcc - GCC version 3.2 shared support library
libstdc++ - GNU Standard C++ Library
[root@nobby root]#

I have tried apt-get installing all the above and it says that I have the
latest versions.

Yes - that is up-to-date and I'm fully upgraded.

I'm using apt-get under RH8.0 so is it the same? I did apt-cache search
libc6 but it was inconclusive.
