RedHat have been quite free software oriented for a long time; more so
than most other distro vendors. For example, I remember they released
RedHat RMS Edition a few years ago - for "RedHat Means Source" - which
was a version of RedHat with no proprietary software/drivers,
supposedly. I think they have probably gotton stricter recently too,
witness the MP3 situation.

You would never call it 'Linux GPL' - the term is both meaningless and
confusing. The GNU GPL is the licence which applies to Linux and a lot
of software, including the GNU Project software, but by no means covers
all of the software.

RedHat tend to just refer to 'Linux', although interestingly only their
commercial titles will carry that moniker - the Fedora Project (no
Linux) releases 'Fedora Core', etc. (again, no Linux). It would be
correct to call it a GNU/Linux distribution.

Slightly off-topic, the GNU Project do now apparently link to a
distribution on their website, which I think is a first (I haven't
checked to see whether or not they point people to Debian GNU/HURD or
GNU/Linux). However, it's not Linux, it's GNU/Darwin ;)

Cheers,

Alex.
