If you have a network card then it's probably eth0 or something 
similar.  So, 'ifconfig eth0' might work.  Man ifconfig isn't much 
good but it gives a few cryptic clues.  All else fails just type 
'ifconfig' and that should show what's lurking.

If you are asking this question then it's likely you haven't 
configured it yet.  So, to configure it, do something like 'iconfig 
eth0 192.168.1.22 netmask 255.255.255.0' and then ping that address.
