    Hi Mark,
    Hmmmm. Definitely worth a try. However, I am still puzzled about
the fact that the kernel was compiled with gcc 3.X (can't remember
which one), and it only started doing these funny things of late...

    However, I did notice that the system was generally more unstable
with the new kernel. I did blame it on the CK patches, and put up with
it, but I didn't realize it might be a compiler issue. I shall waste
some time investigtating your suggestion and shall reply back :-)
