suid scripting isn't supported under Linux - it's a bit of a security hole 
as it makes races easy. You can do it with perl, but you need to use the sperl
wrapper. Never done this myself :-)

If Rob /really/ wants to use a script, then run the script via sudo, with 
sudoers set up so the given script doesn't need a password.
