[Sheflug] Disk rescue / formatting
I've got a Windows ME laptop that refused to boot, even into safe mode. I
tried the rescue CD but the same thing happened. I'd like to wipe the hard
disk and start again (which I thought the rescue disk would do but didn't).
I don't currently have a dos boot disk but I do have a selection of Linux
CDs (Knoppix 3.3, DSL, LinBBC, LinuxCare) that I've been looking at for just
this sort of problem (and recovering data from non booting NTFS partitions).
However I'm not sure how to completely wipe and format a hard disk under
Linux.
Maybe the format won't be necessary as the rescue disk will do that but
is there a linux equivalent of FDISK /MBR?
