Yes thats OK for us to say as most on the list know how easy it is to make a
good website but there are a lot of people who don't know this and there are
a lot of people selling websites they knocked up in half an hour with the
bundled software they got and doing this with no knowledge of what makes a
good website design.

Talking of which any body got any pointers for a website about "what makes a
good website" so that we've got some points to look for when we get the
quotes. I know its not difficult to have a look at the competition's
websites and include all their good bits but there must be a genereal
website listing the dos and don'ts of website design. I know plenty that do
the technical side of website design but few that do the design side.

It all depends on the reason for having a website but yes I was thinking
that too. My current favourite is Mambo, I think the Nuke family is
starting to look a little long in the tooth. Anybody else got any good
suggestions (other than writing one from sratch?)?? Problem with CMS's
though is the increased secirty risks of using PHP/Perl SQL and HTML rather
than just HTML.

But it doesn't necessarily give the right image for the company whose
website it is when they opt for a "we base our website on a blog" rather
than "we have our website reflect the companies image and standards".
