RE: [Sheflug] ADSL SP and hardware recommendations (Slightly OT but it is to connect my Linux box to the net!)

If I add VPNs into that equation does that change anybody's recommendations
on which adsl router/modem to choose? I'd like to know that I can have the
option of connecting to my home network should that be required in the
future.

On the subject of VPNs (which is, I admit, fairly new to me, in practice at
least) is it possible to set up a PC to "network" VPN (as opposed to a PC to
"server" VPN) so I can connect from my PC at home to my whole network at
work with authentication at the router level or does it normally require
authentication through a server on the target (work) network?
If I can access the network without the server it might help diagnosing
problems if the server (win) is unavailable if I can authenticate to the
network at the router level.

Are there any special considerations when setting up a vpn authenticating
server under linux? (Using windblows clients to access the network at
work).
