Just want to mention a little point here!

3rd party stuff for linux... you mean you actually just run a
kernel???? and thats it...

ALL linux software is 3rd party... the proper name for linux as you
mean is GNU/LINUX
as you can have
GNU/BSD
GNU/UNIX
GNU/'HURD

I personally think we lose fact of that issue
