Forgot to add this into the last one....

http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/

this would seem to be very stable and reliable.  Nice graphical 
installer, 2.6 kernel, KDE 3.2.3, 3.3 coming along soon.

Only thing you really have to have is an ADSL line to keep it going :)
