Yep that is it, though you can cross pollinate so to speak. The adept package
manager on Kunbuntu does not seem to carry the Gnome packages. However,
synaptic on Unbuntu does if you enable all of the repositories. It seems from
the chatter on the Unbuntu forum and quite a few run Unbuntu with Gnome and
KDE.
Very helpful community on both these distributions though Unbuntu seems to be
slightly more developed (both community and distro). Plenty of people willing
to answer your questions.
