I've fixed it. It is a MAC address issue. I tried the linux box with the
MAC from the windows box and it worked. I've now got to work out whether
if I let the dhcp lease expire it will allow me to have another MAC
address connected or whether I'm stuck with that particular one.

Once I get my network built there will be only one NIC connected to the
gateway, the rest will be networked off that so I should be able to get
it sorted in the long run.
