[Sheflug] Choice of laptop

Hello again,

I'm thinking of replacing an old, very slow laptop whose battery is dead. I
like the Linux Emporium, so I looked at their laptops preinstalled with
Ubuntu and found the Thinkpad R61i. Then I looked for the same laptop from
a mainstream supplier, on the assumption that I should be able to install
Linux myself if the Emporium can, and found that (with 2GB RAM in each
case) it's £240 cheaper that way, even though it has Vista installed.

Can anyone see a snag I've missed? Can I afford to take risks with current
laptop hardware and Linux?
