Yes.  Seem to be one or two issues here but most people seem to be 
able to sort it out :)  Had some mail back from the Eeebuntu 
developers who think that I downloaded a corrupt ISO image.

Yes

I think my own Christmas has arrived in that I now have the desktop 
that I always wanted on my workstation and it's better than all of 
that Microsoft and Mac stuff...

if you combine this with Gnome 2.2 and the KDE 4.2 widgets you get 
something amazing which makes everything else look like donkey 
droppings.  I install Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex over the weekend and 
now have a really nice desktop.   All I have to do now is spend the 
rest of the week copying over my backed up data......
