One way to do this (and yes, I have done it in the past) is to
download/mirror the site, and then extract the relevant bits from the
html pages, with a view to storing them in a database/having nice
phtml/just making them all a bit more consistent.

This tends to be in the order of making a small dynamic website
though, and is done in much the same way, so probably not a way to do
it if you're learning at the moment!

Do you actually *use* the frontpage extensions on this website, or is
it just the publishing mechanism?
